CII Southampton Newsletter - Christmas 2006 Issue
Welcome to the final edition of the Insurance Institute of Southampton email newsletter for 2006, we hope you have enjoyed our monthly bulletins. We aim to keep you informed of events in the region throughout next year, both here and on our website www.cii-southampton.co.uk.
It has been a year of major changes in the industry, with important changes to the governance structure of the CII and the move to implement and maintain a “principles-based” approach to financial services regulation.
However, aside from the usual seasons greetings, our main story this month is the forthcoming Annual Dinner as tickets are selling fast. Taking place in the Mike Channon Suite at the Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium
(click here for a map) on Friday 23rd February at 7pm, this event has proved to be more popular than ever this year. With a sumptuous four course meal, the President's speech, a superb after dinner speaker (see below) and table magicians to look forward to, the vast majority of tickets have already gone. To bag the last few places for staff or clients contact Dinner Secretary Linda White by email: linda.white@ukfield.cunninghamlindsey.com asap.

Kevin Connelly Confirmed as After Dinner Speaker at the Insurance Institute of Southampton Annual Dinner - Southampton Football Club Friday 23rd February 7pm
Kevin Connelly is the brilliant impressionist and after dinner speaker who is fast becoming one of the most sought after speakers in the UK. It was whilst working as a waiter Kevin honed his great skills where he would impersonate famous people whilst serving his diners. Now an all round impressionist with a "wickedly accurate" portrayal of Tony Blair, Kevin is known best for his appearances on BBC Radio and TV in Deadringers and his sporting impersonations. The evening's entertainment also features the Kings & Queens table magicians who will dazzle and bemuse you with sleight of hand and tricks of the mind...
Forthcoming Lunchtime Lecture: Steve Fitzgerald "The Liability Market" Tuesday 23rd January We return to The Southampton Park Hotel for one of the most popular speakers of recent years - Steve Fitzgerald, Managing Director of DA Constable. Charity News  Your local President, Alan Davies, recently completed a sponsored walk on behalf of The Insurance Charities. Walking the route of the River Test he raised the magnificent sum of £4,165 for the work of the charity. Many thanks to Alan and the Insurers, Broker, Advisers and individuals who contributed so generously to his sponsorship. Insurance Charities Day is on Friday 2nd March 2007 and the charity is promoting a national day of sponsored walks to take place on that day or the weekend of 3rd and 4th March. It is hoped as many companies and groups of individuals will support this event. Southampton Institute are looking to arrange an event during the weekend. Details will be published early in the New Year. In the meantime, details of the national event will appear on the charities website, www.theinsurancecharities.org.uk, which can also be accessed through our own website, www.cii-southampton.co.uk .

Best wishes to all our readers for a successful and prosperous New Year
