Welcome to the second Insurance Institute of Southampton email newsletter. This edition has been rushed out to bring you news of some exciting forthcoming events including a timely lunchtime lecture from a Lee Gladwell, a senior executive of the CII and former local member. Lee returns to the region to discuss the function and activities of the CII and also the future direction and structure of the national body, a subject that has generated so much discussion of late, for example here. We've got details of the first social event in Portsmouth area for a while - the not-to-be-missed Skittles Night, and we're also announcing the Race Night, always a good laugh and a chance to win some cash or even a hangover... CII Marketing and Sales Director Lee Gladwell, a former branch manager of the CU in Southampton, will be giving members an overview of what the CII actually does and the role it is developing within the industry. Questions will be also be taken on the new governance process for discussion by members so this event will be of great interest to anyone following recent developments. You'll get live music from Earth, Wind, Fire & Theft, a tasty buffet and of course the ever-competitive Skittles competition for a mere £10. Race night, one of the most popular social events of the calendar returns next month. Come and have a flutter on 8 horse and greyhound races on the big screen with Tote & "on course" bookmaker betting. Tickets are only £10 a head including hot supper served at 8.15 (vegetarian option available) and raffle. Partners are very welcome and tables are available for company parties.
