Dear Member,

Hello and welcome to your local Institute. I have a short year as President and hope to meet as many of you as possible on our travels.

For 2007/8 we are on the road as far as our programme is concerned. The feeling around the membership and our council is that we should aim for fewer lunchtime meets but aim for a "keynote" speaker at each event. If we can wet your appetite with what's on offer then the free lunch will hopefully act as a sweetener as well!

The summer quiz nights were a great success and a lot of fun and we'll be announcing details of our next social event very soon so watch this space.

The Insurance Institute of Southampton

The Insurance Institute of Southampton was founded in 1913, and now incorporates the former Institutes of Portsmouth and Salisbury. With a membership of over 2500 and growing, we are now one of the largest institutes in the country and have gained a reputation for having one of the best programmes of educational and social events for members during the year

The role of the Institute is to provide educational and and social activities for its members, to encourage members to further their knowledge and professional development and to obtain professional qualifications through the Institute examinations.

Southampton is best known as a thriving port and as the home to some of the world's greatest cruise liners who can now be seen regularly gracing the city's skyline. However, the local institute has ensured that Southampton has also become known in the industry over the last few years as a welcome haven for speakers during our educational programme. The use of leading industry speakers and the dissemination of information to office representatives by e mail has combined to generate audiences in excess of 60 for most of our lunchtime meetings. As our geographical area includes Portsmouth, educational meetings are also now held in Fareham thanks to the support of Zurich Corporate HQ making their seminar rooms and lecture theatre available to us.
